Inside the B-2 stealth bomber

One of the triumphs of the AIR&SPACE website was an opportunity to get inside the B-2 stealth bomber for a cockpit QTVR photo shoot.

I arranged this with Northrup-Grumman when the airplane was at Palmdale.  Veteran AIR&SPACE Photographer Chad Slattery and I shot the photos on the last day that this airframe, Air Vehicle 21, still belonged to Northrup.

It was a tough decision to make, but we chose to put the camera between the seats so the image would show the whole cockpit, rather than at the pilot's POV, which would have been more realistic.  Had we put you in the pilot's seat, the interior of the aircraft would have been out of view and a lot of the image would have been out the window at a hangar wall.

I did sit in the left seat for a short while, however, imagining the race course at Reno sliding by under the left wingtip.

I added some easter eggs in the image, both in real life and in the production of the QTVR panorama.

To look around the interior of the B-2, click on the center of the instrument panel and drag the mouse to pan.  Use the shift key to zoom in and the control key to zoom out.
