France is definitely the dominate force in aerobatics today. They currently hold the Individual Men's World Championship, the Aresti Cup, the Men's Team Championship, the Nesterov Cup, and have been on a roll for the decade to date, having won in 1990 and 1994. The 1992 WAC was called on account of weather, but they were ahead when it was. However, the current Men's Champion is not returning, opening up the competition for that spot, and the Avions Mudry factory (which produces the CAP series aircraft) suffered a fire earlier this year and a pair of valuable airplanes were lost. How that will affect France Voltige is not clear, but anyone who wins at this WAC, in any category, is going to have to fly better than these folks. They have a great training program and lots of talent to choose from, so France Voltige will be the team to beat. Dominique ROLAND provides details as follows:
- Males :
- Eddy Dussau - Extra 300 s
- Christian Lesage - Cap 231ex (perhaps alternate)
- Gille Maniglier - Cap 231ex (perhaps alternate)
- Patrick Paris - Current European Champion - Cap 232
- Dominique Roland - Breitling World Cup 95 winner - Cap 232
- Eric Vazeille - 7 at the last Europeans - Cap 232

- Sylvie Breton - Cap 232
- Brigitte Delasalle - Cap 232

Here are two pictures showing the CAP 232 #7, (in yellow) sponsored by Breitling and flown by Patrick Paris, and Dominique ROLAND's CAP 232, (in white/blue) which was destroyed in the fire. The pictures were taken last summer, when they were flying from Vancouver to San Diego, during the Breitling World Cup.

The fuselage is basically the same than the CAP 231, entirely made of wood. Engine and propellers are the same (Lycoming and MT prop).
The wing is a new design, built using pre-impregnated carbon fibres. all the controls are also built with carbon fibre. The empty weight is 595 kg. The cockpit has been totally redesigned, making the airplane extremely comfortable.
Controls, elevator, ailerons, rudders, are very light and responsive, also in order to give comfortable and tireless conditions for the pilot.
